Well folks, I have bad news. You are not a customer. You are a revenue stream. That’s not paranoia. It’s a business model. Pay forever and die of a preventable illness.
The financial industry, the food industry, the pharmaceutical industry, and the media covering all three would prefer you never connect these dots.
Nobody engineered your financial fragility deliberately. They didn’t need to. Institutions followed their incentives until extraction became built into products, legislation, and habits most Canadians carry without ever questioning where they came from.
So What Do You Do?
Pay manually., watch your accounts, cancel automated debits, fix your credit report, read every contract. The system runs most efficiently when you aren’t watching.
Eliminate debt aggressively. Protect your credit as your negotiating position. Not to impress a bank, but to refuse being sorted into a category.
Treat financial literacy as rebellion. A literate population is harder to victimize. It’s a political act, so let’s go!
